Summer may be coming to an end, but fresh produce is still in full swing. Recently on a special trip to a local blueberry farm along with my 5 year old son, together we picked 5 pounds of fresh blueberries right off the bush!! Right away my recipe wheels started to turn and the first recipe born was the BlueNana Pop!!¬† It just can’t get any better then fresh picked, sweet blueberries … plus, blueberries are extremely low in calories, high in antioxidant effect, full of phytonutrients, full of fiber, and a great source of manganese. Current research suggests that blueberries¬† may also have positive health effects in cardiovascular health, insulin response, brain health, and cancer risk reduction. The BlueNana Pop is a delicious,cool healthy snack that even offers a protein punch. Here is how to make your next healthy BlueNana Pop!!

 

BlueNana RecipeBlueNana Pop

  • 6 ounces vanilla nonfat greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp local honey
  • 1 whole banana-chunked
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

 

Blend all together in blender until thoroughly pureed. I used the Nutribullet to blend, but any high powered blender should work fine. Pour blueberry blend in desired popsicle molds.  Freeze 1-2 hours or until thoroughly frozen. Yields 4-5 pops. Blueberry Cheers!! Enjoy.
